EMERITUS and PERIVALLON Joint Workshop in Calvarina, Italy

As part of the 5th PERIVALLON Plenary Meeting held in Soave, Italy, a joint workshop was organized between the PERIVALLON and EMERITUS Horizon Europe projects to explore synergies in the fight against environmental crime.

This collaborative event was held in the formed military base of Calvarina and brought together experts and researchers from both consortia to discuss innovative methodologies, share research findings, and align efforts on tackling complex illicit environmental activities. The workshop focused on practical use cases and tools that support enforcement agencies in their investigations and environmental monitoring strategies.

Key highlights included:

  • Presentations on the Environmental Crime Observatory (PERIVALLON) and Waste Crime Investigation Protocols (EMERITUS), demonstrating the shared commitment to enhancing capabilities in environmental crime prevention.
  • Case studies on illegal waste disposal, the intentional dumping of pollutants in land and water, and the use of UAVs for industrial site monitoring.
  • A feedback and policy recommendation session aimed at enhancing cross-project collaboration and informing future EU policy directions.
